Bike-Drive in Support of HWF’s Helping with Bikes program

2019-04-23

On May 4th, Dominion City Brewing Co. is graciously hosting an event in support of HWF’s program Helping With Bikes. It’s your chance to donate that old bike collecting dust in your garage. HWF will fix them up and donate them to a neighbour in need.

The team from Retro-rides.ca will also be on-site offering pay-what-you-can bike safety checks. Proceeds will support HWF’s Helping with Bikes program.

Join us at Dominion City Brewing Co. on Canotek on Saturday May 4th 2019 from noon to 4PM. We'll have hot dogs and beer on the treehouse patio!

BRUCE TIMMERMANS CHARITY BICYCLE

Bruce Timmermans was a long-time Ottawa cycling educator and advocate. He was an active member of the Ottawa Bicycle Club and a founding member of Citizens for Safe Cycling. He worked tirelessly to promote cycling and safety for cyclists.

In his honour, Jason Komendat — owner of local bike shop Retro-Rides.ca — was able to purchase Bruce’s collection of parts and bicycle frames 20 years after his passing, and he has built a bicycle made exclusively of Bruce’s bicycle parts. The bicycle frame has been preserved and clear coated in its original state.

On May 4th at the Dominion City Bike Drive, Retro-Rides.ca will donate all proceeds from a donation style raffle to HWF’s Helping With Bikes initiative. Your donation will be entered into the raffle and one lucky person will take the Bruce Timmermans bike home!
