HWF’s “Tech program” provides used, functional computer equipment for families and students that we help with furniture. For these families, a working laptop can provide access to educational resources, social services, and employment assistance. In these times of social distancing, our needs are even greater to support our clients’ access to education and mental health services. You may reach our team via tech@hwfottawa.org

Did you recently upgrade your hardware and no longer need your older electronics? We are interested in individual donations as well as larger ones from businesses. HWF ensures that the computers are completely wiped, following industry standards, before they are refurbished.

And if you would like to get involved to refurbish laptops for our clients or assist in outreach to grow our program, we want to hear from you! Please get in touch by visiting our volunteer page here.

In addition to laptops, other electric and electronic items we accept include:

  • Flat screen TVs (27” and up)

  • Tablets

  • DVD players and CD movies for children

  • Microwave

  • Clock radios

  • Laser printers

We DO NOT accept: stereos, speakers, VCR players, inkjet printers and home telephones; console, floor model and tube style TVs; large appliances like stoves, fridges, dishwashers, washers & dryers; air conditioners

 

We are extremely grateful for all donations of laptops, tablets, cellphones, electronic items and other useful items for our clients. Please drop off your tech at our warehouse located at 1455 Michael St Unit 3 on Wednesday evenings between 6 and 9 pm, or Saturdays between 10:00 am and 1pm.
